We’ve traveled through many countries in Europe, but India is something else entirely. From the moment we landed, the sensory overload was real: the colors, the sounds, the smells, the chaos, the rhythm—it all came at once. It was beautiful and overwhelming.

A Surreal Wedding Journey to Ranchi, India

When we first received the invitation to photograph the wedding of Amrit and Karishma in India, we knew it was going to be something special. But nothing truly prepared us for what we were about to experience in Ranchi, a city that felt like stepping into a different time.

A World Away from Europe

We’ve traveled through many countries in Europe, but India is something else entirely. From the moment we landed, the sensory overload was real: the colors, the sounds, the smells, the chaos, the rhythm, it all came at once. It was beautiful and overwhelming.

Ranchi, where the wedding took place, is not a touristy city. In fact, it felt like a well-kept secret. There was an old-world charm in the cracked buildings, the dusty streets, the buzzing auto-rickshaws, and the way time seemed to move slower. Life felt raw, untouched, and deeply rooted in tradition.

The Wedding of Amrit & Karishma

The wedding itself was a vibrant explosion of color, tradition, and emotion. Unlike the Western weddings we’ve photographed, this was a celebration that spanned several days and involved the entire community.

We were welcomed like family—given food, chai, and a front-row seat to ancient rituals that held profound meaning. From the Mehndi ceremony, where Karishma’s hands were painted with intricate henna patterns, to the Sangeet night filled with music and dancing, everything was like a scene from a movie.

The actual wedding day was a visual feast. Amrit arrived on a white horse, surrounded by drums and fireworks. Karishma looked like a goddess in red and gold, her sari shimmering in the sunlight. Photographing them was effortless—their love and energy lit up every frame.

More Than a Job, It Was a Cultural Immersion

This trip wasn’t just about capturing beautiful images. It was about being present in a culture so different from our own. It was about humility, curiosity, and connection.

Jaipur

After the wedding festivities in Ranchi, we made a quick stop in Jaipur — and it was like stepping into a living postcard.

Known as the Pink City, Jaipur dazzled us with its ornate palaces, colorful bazaars, and that golden desert light photographers dream of. Every corner felt like a movie set: the Hawa Mahal rising like a honeycomb, elephants parading past sandstone walls, and fabrics so vivid they seemed to glow.

We wandered through Amer Fort at sunrise, got lost in the spice-scented alleys of the old city, and captured candid portraits of locals who were as curious about us as we were about them.

Jaipur wasn’t just beautiful — it was magnetic. And though our time there was short, it left a lasting impression on our lenses and in our hearts.
