Sometimes, the most unforgettable places are the ones hardest to reach.Roque Bermejo, tucked away at the northeastern tip of Tenerife, is exactly that kind of place — remote, wild, and breathtakingly beautiful.
Hike from Chamorga

We started our hike from Chamorga, a tiny village in the Anaga Mountains that feels like the end of the world. From there, a winding path took us through lush laurel forests, steep ridges, and rocky descents — every step a blend of challenge and awe. The scent of pine mixed with salty sea breeze reminded us just how unique Tenerife is: where mountain and ocean hold hands.
The final stretch opened to a jaw-dropping view: Roque Bermejo below, a tiny hamlet surrounded by cliffs and kissed by the Atlantic. There’s no road here — only footpaths and boats — and that isolation gives the place a timeless feel. Fishermen’s houses, waves crashing against the rocks, and a silence that speaks volumes.
We paused for a simple picnic, our feet dangling over the edge of the cliff, watching the waves and feeling incredibly small — and incredibly alive.
A Few Tips If You Go:
- Start early — the sun can be intense, and the way back is all uphill.
- Bring water and snacks — there are no shops in Roque Bermejo.
- Wear proper shoes — the terrain is uneven and steep in places.
- Take your time — this is more than a hike; it’s an experience.
Roque Bermejo isn’t just a destination. It’s a reminder of why we love Tenerife: raw beauty, secret corners, and the magic that comes with slowing down.
